Talk announcement – Goran Kopčak i Ivica Projić – Open source in digital transformation of water monitoring
Goran, a technical product manager for e-Environment product portfolio and technical manager on the R&D project WaterQ, And Ivica, an EU funds expert and Project manager on the R&D project WaterQ. They both work at Ericsson Nikola Tesla, and they will talk about how Water quality&safety issues have increased in recent decades and are expected to further rise as a result of different emerging environmental or anthropogenic influences, like industrial, agricultural and urban pollution, climate change or disasters. Incidents in the water systems are often result of rare contamination episodes that are characteristically intermittent, short-lived, and often event-driven, i.e. some rapid, significant change in conditions that provides a sudden challenge to a water system. These contamination patterns are extremely difficult to recognise and control through monitoring treated drinking water quality. Such monitoring is limited in both scope and volume, and also by minimal sampling frequencies and locations in a vast distribution network. Furthermore, data on water quality control are collected at several levels and from different systems (state monitoring, monitoring by water suppliers) which makes them diverse and very complex to analyse and consequently leads to inability to informed management and lower quality risk assessment in the future. Objective of the WaterQ project is to answer how digital transformation can provide solution to those challenges.
You can hear all that and more in their talk ‘Open source in digital transformation of water monitoring‘ and found answer what is the role of open source in that transformation.
